There is something liberating about doing business in August. Everything we do is a bonus because most other people are on holiday and Steve Osborne set us off at an exciting pace as usual.
Guests were abundant tonight and from far afield as Russia thanks to Olga's nephew Alexis, Germany thanks to Gabby and less far flung but equally welcome, Jason Cunningham and a husband and wife team Ken and Margaret from Hamwiic Speakers near Southampton.
Our Sergeant at Arms was Tony at the last minute, thank you Tony and our Toastmistress was Fiona Grant who I will never separate from the concept of laughter yoga.
Speeches and evaluations were kept to perfect time by Simon Bell and Hazel Montague evaluated us all with an air of experience mixed with the skittishness of a little girl.
Dan Webb won best speaker. Simon Bell won best evaluator and Peter Roxbrugh won best table topic speaker. Andrew Collinson evaluated the wonderful table topics ranging from a brush to mosquito spray with great candour (I'm not even sure what that means but it seems to fit).
So, all in all, another fantastic meeting.
Simon Bell wrote this report (did you guess?).
