Nine guests and a throng of members enjoyed 3 speeches of exceptionally high standards. The Best Speaker was won by Peter Roxburgh with his 2nd speech at the club; he won Best Speaker on the previous occasion too. Peter beat off very strong competition from Tony Peters and from Robin Thirlwell who both excelled. Table Topics, managed by Melanie Austreng, was good fun. A guest, Greg Tansil, won Best Table Topics on this occasion with a well delivered speech.
Cottonwood Speakers welcomes Robert Carter as a new member, Robert has spoken in Table Topics at a previous meeting.
It was good to see Barry Mitchell again, who has moved out of the area; although Barry was on crutches due to a running injury he still provided an excellent evaluation. A brief educational slot about "pauses verses umms" was delivered by Club President Steve Osborne who incidentally was voted Best Evaluator. Seems Dan Webb is a natural Toastmaster, effortlessly managing the meeting as though he had been in the role for years.
Tony Peters has generously offered to fill our Vice President Public Relations for the balance of this Toastmaster year, the Sargeant at Arms role previously handled by Tony has been taken by Dinah Smith.
